Job Purpose

 

To create and deliver a framework of competency standards that will evidence our technical competence to external interested bodies – such as the Building safety regulator.

Working with the teams in MDWIS and MDWSS to support registration of individual BI’s and MDWSS as a registered Building control Approver.

 

Working with academic partners and professional bodies to deliver our strategy in developing our employees that satisfies regulatory requirements.

Role Responsibilities

 

Duties of the post include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Working closely with our regulatory specialist, head of l and D  and head of Building control to create a framework that will allow the company to show technical competency of staff
  • Work with external bodies to complete our strategy for providing internal training and potentially external training to ensure that our operational staff are trained and developed to meet the changing technical climate
  • Ensuring the company is engaged with developments in government policy for competency and meeting the requirements of that policy

 

  • To support Regional Managers and Directors in the development of staff in the field of building regulation’s, developing competence based training plans.

 

  • To liaise with the group head of technical l and D and Premier Building Control to ensure that technical competency requirements are met.

 

  • To co-ordinate with professional bodies and Government working groups to ensure that training internally is up to date and relevant.

 

  • To advice the training team on suitability practical technical training modules and competency tests / licence to practise tests.

 

  • Any other reasonable duties which are appropriate to the role.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience / Skills

 

  • Experienced people manager

 

  • Full member of professional organisations with minimum grades accepted: MRICS / MCABE /  or similar.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations, associated legislation and construction standards

 

  • Good planning skills and a methodical approach to organisation.

 

  • Extensive experience of differing construction methods, as well as experience of defect resolution issues.

 

  • Experience in the delivery of training and development of others in groups and individually.
  • Experience of writing technical literature.

 

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of construction techniques.

 

  • Requires a good understanding of general insurance principals and terminology.

 

  • Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to create not only good working relationships with other construction professionals but to be able to deal effectively staff of MDIS.

 

  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.
  • In depth working knowledge of MS Outlook (email), MS Word, MS Excel and ability to use company intranet system (including all bespoke packages).
  • Demonstrable ability to use own initiative.

 

  • Ability to motivate self and influence others.

 

  • Excellent Communications skills. Confident in approach, with the ability to work across all levels of the business.

 

  • Flexible in personal approach.

 

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Proficient in communications (written and oral).
