Introducing the new Premier Guarantee Technical Manual

We are proud to unveil the Premier Guarantee Technical Manual Version 17, a comprehensive update designed to support developers, builders and designers in navigating the changing new homes construction landscape.

Staying ahead of technical standards is essential for delivering high-quality homes.

Effective for all homes quoted on or after 1st January 2026, the updated manual reflects Premier Guarantee’s commitment to promoting quality construction and providing assurance to both industry professionals and future homeowners.

Premier Guarantee Managing Director David Swigciski hailed the manual as a 'valuable resource’.

He said: “This Technical Manual is designed to provide clear, practical guidance on meeting our warranty requirements, thereby enabling industry professionals to navigate the evolving landscape of building standards and best practices with confidence.

“Our primary objective is to promote quality construction and provide assurance to both industry professionals and future homeowners.

“The Technical Manual is intended to be a valuable resource for our developers, builders and designers alike, combining our extensive experience with industry insights, regulatory updates, claims analysis and feedback from our partners."

What’s new in version 17?

Here are some of the standout updates:

1. Improved layout and clarity

  • A new portrait layout makes the manual easier to navigate
  • Simplified Functional Requirements to streamline compliance
  • Performance Requirements have been reintroduced to support Functional Requirements, offering greater clarity around warranty expectations

2. Expanded technical guidance

Two new sections have been added. They are:
  • Section 21: MMC Systems - covering Volumetric Systems, Closed Panel Systems, SIPs, and ICFs, along with system acceptance processes.
  • Section 22: Conversions and Retained Elements - formerly an appendix, now a full section with comprehensive guidance.

 

3. Enhanced standards across key areas

The manual includes significant updates across multiple sections: 

  • Ground Conditions: New guidance on managing contaminants and radon protection
  • Waterproofing: Expanded detailing for below-ground structures 
  • Foundations: Rationalised guidance on piles, raft foundations and engineered fill 
  • External Walls: Improved clarity on masonry, timber frame and steel frame systems 
  • Roofs: Updated standards for pitched, flat, green, and blue roofs, including bracing and ventilation 
  • Drainage: Streamlined subsections and new guidance 
  • Heating and Electrical: Revised performance criteria for space heating and PV solar panels
